Yad Moss ski resort, England

Yad Moss describes itself as one of England’s premier snow slope. This facility is operated by Carlisle Ski Centre Ltd. and entirely run by volunteers. It is situated 7 miles south east of Alston, Cumbria, England, on the B6277 Grid Ref 774 377. This ski resort is located very close to the Swinhope Moor Ski resort. Accommodation is available in the village of Ashgill, which is only a mile away from the slope. Other options for accommodation are the nearby villages of Alston, Garrigill and Nenthead.

The top station is at 725 metres and the vertical rise is 125 metres. Free skiing is offered for members who take membership before Dec 1st. The aspect of this ski area is West Facing. This ski mountain is not suitable to beginners because of its steep slopes and lack of gentle runs.All skiers who come here are required to be experienced in using a fast drag lift.

The length of the Poma Uplift (longest lift in England) auto stacking button tow is 630 metres. The uphill capacity of the lifts is 600 people per hour.

The daylodge has a club room and other facilities for individuals as well as for families who visit this Ski area. Two high powered Kassböhrers “piste bashers” enable the volunteers to keep the slopes groomed and ready for the skiers, snowboarders and snowmobilers.
