Planted in the east of Akita Prefecture in north of Tokyo , Tazawako ski resort is a fine-looking place to ski and snowboard, with its mild slopes and incredible views of Lake Tazawako . The facilities at Tazawako ski resort are somewhat broad which includes a ski school, swimming pool, sauna, gym, ski and snowboard rentals, a children's play area and some childcare services. There are more than 20 hotels in the resort which are sensibly priced and offer good food and drinks at their restaurants.
It is a medium sized ski resort with 9 ski lifts that offers skiers an impressive 608 metres (1995 feet) of vertical descent. Tazawako ski resort brags of 15 well-groomed pistes which is provided essentially to beginners, intermediate skiers and snowboarders.
The longest slope is a decently 1.86 miles long. Twelve ski lifts provide slope access to the pisted runs and off-piste, while snowboarders have a snowboard park and half-pipe to enjoy with. There are many hot springs and outdoor baths in the area around Tazawako. The best of these is Tsuronoyu which is one of the Japan 's oldest, while Ganiba is also well liked.
The ski season at Tazawako ski resort runs from early December to late April and the best snow conditions can be found here in February, with cheaper deals on weekdays and at the end of the season.
The most convenient travel option is to fly to Tokyo and take the bullet train via Morioka , from where buses leave for the resort. There are regular flights from Osaka to Hanamaki Airport which is about 70 miles southeast of Tazawako ski resort by road. The flight is less than 1 hour and30 minutes. Alternatively, trains run from Hanamaki to Morioka and onto Tazawako, from where buses dash to the resort.
