Take the family, but check out other resorts for powder riding. SilverStar is a charming, small ski resort near Vernon, BC, not far from Kelowna and its sister resort Big White. SilverStar has easy terrain where black diamond ski runs are easily tackled even by an intermediate skier or snowboarder. There are some fun, fairly open glades to ski in but the terrain isn't very challenging.

Silver Star Mountain Ski resort

I would definitely bring a family with learning skiers here as the slopes are well groomed and easy to ski. We went in spring when the conditions were a bit slushy but saw a breathtaking sunset from western side of the mountain. It's easy to explore the whole resort in one day and I imagine Deer Park would be really fun on a good powder day. There doesn't seem to be a lot in terms of après entertainment but we didn't spend the night there. I wouldn't make this resort a destination on my ski trip, but more of a stop along the way.
