Salmo ski area, west Kootenay Mountains, Canada

Nestled in a town called Salmo in the west Kootenay Mountains of southeastern British Columbia is the ski hill that is famous for its night skiing and fully lit runs. This is a family ski resort so that people of all ages and levels can participate in the varied terrain which includes groomed runs, gently sloping runs, moguls and steep slopes with fresh powder and cross-country trails.

This ski resort is reachable by car from Spokane International Airport in the USA or from Kelowna International Airport in Canada.

The season starts here in December and the resort stays open until late March. The operating hours are usually from 5:30PM – 9:00PM from Monday – Thursday and from 9:00AM – 3:30PM on weekends.

Annual snowfall here is about 3 meters (10 ft). The vertical drop is 340 meters (1,120 ft). The varied terrain is divided into 5 trails which are used in the ratio of 30% novice, 30% Intermediate and 40% advanced. There are two T-bar lifts and one handle tow.
