This ski area is located in Blairmore, a town in the Crowsnest Pass of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Pass Powderkeg ski resort can be reached from Calgary International Airport in about two and a half hours by bus or car. This is a very family friendly resort with dependable snow conditions and moderately challenging terrain.
There are fifteen runs of which six are reserved for night skiing. Pass Powderkeg has a 1200 ft vertical for amazing skiing conditions for skiers who need a challenging terrain as well as the gentler environment such as Beginner Area and Terrain Park for families that gather here every year.
The ratio of terrain for skiers in this park is 25% for Beginners, 42% for Intermediate and 33% for Advanced. There are 12 trails and two T-bar lifts in this ski area.
Canadian Ski Instructors Association (CSIA) certified instructors are available for children and adults in skiing or snowboarding so that families can enjoy the stay here.
Pass Powderkeg is open 5PM – 9PM Wednesday through Friday. The hours of operation on Saturday is from 10AM – 9PM and on Sunday, it is 10:00AM to 4PM. The ski area is closed on Monday and Tuesday. There are certain periods such as Family Week (Feb 15 – Feb 19) when they are open on Monday and Tuesdays too.
Events such as Alberta Family Day, John Spina Memorial Team Relay Race Parade, Dummy Downhill and Rail Jam Freestyle Event are celebrated with great enthusiasm by the participating groups.
