Oz-en-Oisans ski resort, France

ski hotels

This is a medium-to-large resort with a lot of trails. No matter what your ability level, this is a resort for you. The resort has 245kms of trails, 35 of them groomed.

In addition the resort has 50 kms of cross-country tracks. The nearest airport and the nearest train station are at Grenoble. The summit is 2,800m and the runs are 30% beginner, 40% intermediate, and 30% advanced. The vertical drop is 1,700m. There are 25 lifts and 8 restaurants. The resort is linked to the next-to-the-highest mountain in the Alps, so snow is almost guaranteed during ski season. The resort is like a village with facilities to meet everyone’s needs. There are no roads in the village, so cars are not to be seen. Children particularly enjoy the tobogganing. This is a popular resort so be sure to book ahead. There are plenty of accommodations available, but they go fast!

Saint Pierre de Chartreuse

Located in the southeastern region of France, not far from the Italian border, the resort has no gondolas or trams, but it does have seventeen lifts, which take skiers up to its slopes. Fully half of which are intermediate runs, one quarter are for beginners, and the other quarter are advanced (at least a single black diamond run).

Also, almost ten percent of the slopes are double black diamond expert runs. Snowboards are allowed on all of the slopes and trails. Sleeping accommodations with 3,500 beds are available at slopeside, and there are eleven more hotels in the nearby area. Up on the mountain is a restaurant, and there are sixteen more nearby; you can dine on French, Savoyard and Italian cuisine. The resort offers both child care (for children from infants to four years) and ski lessons for children from age four and up; plus lessons for adults as well. The area also has a bank, post office and a number of shops to service all of your needs.
