One of the cities visited by the Olympic Torch for 2010 is Fort St. James, which is the gateway to the majestic landscape scattered with meandering rivers and lakes which traverse 400 km around Central part of British Columbia. This part of the world is well known for its outdoor recreational activities such as biking, golf, water-skiing, canoeing alpine and Nordic skiing, hockey, curling, dog sledding, snowmobiling, etc.

This ski area may be reached in about an hour and a half drive from Prince George. Murray Ridge Ski area is open from December to late March and has 22 runs which span about 30km of trails with span the breadth of this breathtaking panorama. The vertical drop is 518 meters (1,700 ft) and top Elevation is 1,980 meters (6,500 ft). Expected annual snowfall is about 300 cm (118 inches).

There are two lifts in this park. The runs are divvied into Beginner - 27%. Intermediate – 33% and Expert - 40%. Season passes and ski passes are available that enable the visitor to enjoy the 30 km of major alpine runs that have been designed for skiers or snowboarders of various levels.

This park also has 20 km of groomed and track-set cross country trails with a 3.7 km long and well lit loop with a cozy, warm up building.
