Macugnaga's goal is to give the ski and snow sport enthusiast an exciting and traditional time on the slopes. This scenic ski area sits at the base of the beautiful Monte Rosa in Italy, and is filled with charming buildings, some centuries old, and a variety of attractions and activities to give you a complete resort experience on your vacation.

Accommodations

Lodging is available for almost every taste in Macugnaga, with comfortable hotel rooms for a variety of group sizes. You will find newer structures as well as centuries-old buildings. Choose from locations on the streets of town or nestled in the beautiful forests at the base of the mountains.

Tracks/Slopes

Macugnaga is a skier's paradise, with fifteen ski slopes varying in length from 600 to 7,500 mt. You can also try the two 8,000 mt cross country runs, which take you on a scenic tree-lined path through old houses, providing you with panoramic views of the area. Mount Moro offers snowboarders and exclusive area dedicated to freestyle snowboarding. Snowboarders are also welcome on a number of runs and off-pistes down Mount Moro.

Your trip to the top of the slopes will be easy and fast. Macugnaga has three chairlifts, two cableways, and seven ski-lifts.

Other Activities

When you aren't skiing or snowboarding, there are plenty of other activities in the area you can partake in. In winter months, the adventurer in your may want to climb iced over waterfalls to catch unparalleled views of the landscape. Spend some time refining your ski skills with a lesson or two at the area ski schools, or take a snowboarding lesson. Try your skills at ice hockey and ice skating on the Pecetto skating ring. The area also features a number of organized events, such as torchlight ski processions, snow games, and high altitude dinners.

In summer months, the gorgeous mountains provide a wonderful opportunity for mountain climbers to reach new heights. Guided nature hikes are provided, taking you through the lush mountainous landscaped, where you can learn about the native wildlife and vegetation. Other activities such as tennis, para-gliding, horse riding, volleyball, archery, bowls and trekking are also available.

Shopping at the many souvenir, clothing, and sporting goods shops is always a favorite past-time.


Dining

Casual and fine dining options are available in Macugnaga. The area has everything from quiet coffee shops, vibrant pubs, and pizzerias to fine international cuisine.
