Lonquimay, Chile

ski hotels

The ski resort of Lonquimay is built on top of a volcano last known to have erupted in 1989, and is 600km south of Santiago. There is plenty of snow here and almost 3000 acres of terrain to explore. Two lifts serve the runs of the south eastern face of the Lonquimay Volcano. Cross country skiing is available here and the resort is relatively remote.

Accommodation is available in nearby Corralco. One of the more challenging runs is to spend 3-4 hours climbing the 2890m volcano where a steep technical descent awaits.
