Les Deus Alpes ski resort, France

ski hotels

This ski resort in the northern Alps in the Isére area is France’s second oldest resort. The village is at 1,650m and the lifts run to 3,600m. The largest skiable glacier in Europe is in this resort. It is a 71km drive southeast of Grenoble. The “two Alps” in the name refer to the two villages of Venosc and Mont de Lans at each end of the resort.

You can only get to the resort from the north. There are 22km of trails and 2,300km of vertical drop. There are 100 marked runs; in addition, there are almost that many unmarked ones. It has one of the largest and best-known snowparks in Europe.

The largest ski-school in France is here. Fifty-one lifts serve the resort. The glacier makes year-round skiing possible.

A railway tunnel under the ice carries the skiers 3,450m. The panaroma is breathtaking! An abundance of hotels is available near this resort as well as chalets.
