Les Alpes d’Huez ski resort, France

Les Alpes d’Huez represents one of the most important ski resorts in the French Alps. Being situated at1860 – 3330 meters, where there is a beautiful mountain pasture in the Central French Alps. Now, you are wondering from where you know this French tourist resort. Well, Les Alpes d’Huez is one of the ski resorts where the Tour of France is currently held (since the year of 1952). In addition, not only it has been part of the Tour de France, but also it has been he stage finish every year, since 1976.

This ski station has been officially opened in 1936, but only after the 1950’s it has become so popular like it is now. Only here, it was held in 1968, the Winter Olympics. That moment represented an economical boom for this place, making this ski resort not only popular amongst the ski & winter sports lovers, but also for the worldwide public.

Having almost 236 kilometers of tracks, and also 84 ski lifts, this tourist resort is now one of the largest ones in the entire world. Numerous, modern and new snowmaking facilities are currently helping in the combat with the fact that most of the slopes are facing south. These marvelous slopes are perfect both for the beginners, but also for the more experimented skiers, such as the intermediate and advanced ones.

Here, all the beginner skiers can have some good training in this winter sport domain, with more than 12 dedicated slopes. The advanced skiers will just have 3 slopes from which they can have to choose from, but they can also tackle some of the intermediate ones, which constitute also very good challenges. In order to ensure a snow level of several feet, there are more than 100 snow cannons all around the tourist resort.

In addition, there are more than 40 kilometers of cross-country ski routes. These are representing some of the prettiest ski tracks in the entire French Alps. The actual capacity of Les Alpes d’Huez is of about 21,000 skiers, all without forming any queues.
