Kleinkirchheim ski resort is a woodsy and scenic resort located 167 km from Salzburg. Nestled among the trees, this low altitude resort pumps its own snow in to provide a wintry atmosphere for its skiers. Good skiing can be found at this resort and interestingly resides in the home of the legendary Franz Klammer.
Whether on a tight budget or planning a luxurious vacation, the resort is plentiful in providing the accommodations needed. From five-star hotels near the village to self-catering apartments for rent, visitors will find the sleep arrangements they desire. Quality bed and breakfast cottages and farms are also located nearby.
The ski area at Kleinkirchheim consists of 64 miles of meticulously groomed ski runs and 26 lifts. Approximately 97 percent of the runs are covered with artificial snow. A majority of the slopes are shady and north-facing to preserve the snow. Above the adjacent village of St. Oswald, open and sunny slopes can be found.
For those looking for something other than skiing and boarding, 60 km of walking and hiking winter trails are available. The winding paths provide spectacular views of the village and mountains. Snow tubing, tobogganing, sleigh riding and horseback riding in the snow are alternative options to enjoy.
