Gresse-en-Vercors ski resort, France

This ski resort was initiated in 1965 by mayor Emile Mouttet. He oversaw the installation of the first ski lifts and the building of apartments for tourists. From that beginning, the resort has gradually grown and now has 19 slopes for downhill, 40kms for crosscountry, and 2,500 beds for tourists. A monument in the village honors fallen volunteers who had created their own resistance effort during World War II.

This tiny resort in such a beautiful location is best suited to beginners, families, and intermediates. There is 1 black run, 7 red ones, 3 blue ones, and 8 green ones. There are 40km of cross country trails and 16 ski lifts. The highest lift is 1,751m, and the lowest trail is 1,250m. The altitude at this resort is 1,25 m.
