Majestic views and picturesque resorts are two main attractions of skiing in Croatia. The Republic of Croatia, located in Southeastern Europe, offers skiing and snowboarding in a number of relatively small ski resorts. Snowfall is most reliable on Mount Sljeme, with a ski season of about three months a year. The Croatian Olympic Center is located in the ski resort of Bjelolasica, which is the largest ski resort in Croatia. Bjelolasica often makes use of snowmaking machines as the snowfall in this resort is not always reliable. Apart from downhill skiing, the resort offers cross-country skiing, skiing lessons, snowboarding, and a host of indoor and outdoor facilities.

The ski resort of Platak also suffers from unreliable snowfall but does have very modern equipment and allows you to see the sea from its mountain tops. In spite of the fact that Janica & Ivica Kostelic from Croatia have managed to secure several Olympic skiing medals in the last decade, Croatia is not a true skiing destination. However, for those who would like to have their holiday to Croatia include one or two days of skiing, it’s perfect. Added benefits of Croatia are the very low prices for food and accommodation.
