Courchevel ski resort, France

ski hotels

Known to be one of the best of the several villages found in the largest linked ski area in the world, the Three Valleys. Courchevel is made up of four villages; all are different and offer choices to all types of skiers. 1850 is the ritzy, swanky sector, and has its own airstrip, grand hotels and award winning restaurants. 1650, 1550 and 1300 are the other three sectors and they offer hotels and restaurants of all ratings. Not as upmarket as 1850, but they do cater well to all budgets.

If you are wondering about the numbers replacing names, they are related to the altitude of the villages.

The Three Valleys covers a 600km of runs, with 180 lifts, and Courchevel covers 150km with 62 lifts, with predominately intermediate runs.

Even though the black runs are few, they are excellent challenges and experts will love them. Plenty of off piste terrain and steep slopes are entertaining to the experts.

All levels of Intermediates will be in heaven here, with many long, fast cruising runs here.

Beginners are very well catered to as well; nursery slopes at 1650 and 1850 are the best choices.
Courchevel also has a good reputation for off piste boarding and skiing. Mountain eating has a good reputation but it comes with a higher price tag.
