A perfect resort for families who want to come off the beaten track and away from the typical sprawling Swiss ski resorts. Although it is relatively small with only about 10 kilometres of runs, the 7000 per hour lift capacity means that your time in lift queues will be virtually non-existent. The resort boasts new snowmaking equipment and a "child-friendly" chairlift as part of their five lift system. The skiing caters for all abilities but is mainly focused on beginners and families. It is also one of the only resorts in the Swiss Alps that actively promotes a budget lift pass.
In the base of the resort there are miles of cross-country ski trails that are claimed to be some "of the most beautiful and varied trails throughout the Bregenzerwald" and also 30 kilometres of marked walking paths. The bottom plateau is also home to the main hotel which dominates the resort.
Alpenarena is nowadays, one of the single tourist resorts which is located in a still undiscovered ski zones in the beautiful mountainous country of Switzerland, as far as the British and the American are concerned. It is situated on a sheltered sun terrace in Graubunden, on a mountainous plateau at 1100 to 3018 meters above the actual sea level. Alpenarena is at only a 20 minutes ride by car from Chur, and also from a 90 minutes drive from Zurich, the biggest Swiss city.
