Saint-Lary Soulan ski resort, France

ski hotels

Located right on the French border Saint-Lary (as it is often shortened to) is the largest ski resort in The Pyrenees, with over 100 kilometres of slopes through 53 runs that are spread out over two mountains. The centrepiece of the skiing is the Mirabelle run which is 3.6 kilometers long and descends over 700 meters. The resort has recently increased its lift capacity six-fold with the addition of two lifts from the village.

Saint-Lary is actually divided up into 3 ski areas, each with their own character and unique selling points. Saint-Lary 1700 "Pla d’Adet" is dedicated to family-orientated skiing with the Snow Garden, toboggan run and a fun snow sports park for children. Saint-Lary 1900 "Espiaube" is an area for the more experienced skier with access to the 1700 and 2400 sites via the pistes or road.

It is here you will find the famous "Mirabelle". Finally there is Saint-Lary 2400; a resort more aimed at the “new wave” skiers, with a mogul park and slalom stadium, in the snow park. 2400 is also an ideal base for walkers and snow-shoe rambles to Lake Oule accessible by the lakeside chairlift.

There’s a great range of hotels from three-star downwards and a multitude of self-catering possibilities. There is also a thermal baths, a Sensoria wellness centre, ice climbing up a frozen waterfall, snowmobiling and paragliding.
