Gaustablikk ski resort, Norway

ski hotels

If you're looking for great conditions that can be ensured early in the season check out Gaustablikk. This is the first resort to open every year in Norway, and is known for hosting many national Alpine ski teams from other parts of world to train here.

The resort itself features 15 kilometres of trails with 15 individual trails, served by five ski lifts. They will be adding four new elevators and more ski terrain within the next year or so. This resort is constantly building on, growing and improving. It's a modern resort with typical Norwegian charm.

The Ski Barn is perfect for beginners and children, featuring a conveyor belt and platter lift to access mild slopes. The terrain park isn't huge, but the resort is committing itself to having five to seven features, including boxes, jumps and rails for snowboarders and skiers to practice tricks on. The snow park is located right along the chairlift line. Off-piste riding is available, though recommended only with a guide. Nearby is the beautiful Gaustatoppen mountain, popular for off-piste skiing and snowboarding. From the top you can see all around Norway and even on to Sweden.

Cross country skiers can enjoy 100 kilometres of groomed Nordic trails, spanning all levels of difficulty. There are about three kilometres of lighted trails as well.

Night skiing is available Tuesdays and Thursdays and other activities in the area to take part in include horseback riding, ice climbing and sledging competitions.

You'll find a good variety of accommodations, restaurants and after ski at Gaustablikk. Hotels, apartments and big mountain cabins are all available for you to cozy up in and refresh for the next day on the hill. Restaurants, pubs and cafes await you, and there is live music nearly every day of the week. The village offers all the amenities needed for an extended ski vacation.
