Part of the Achensee area, The Tyrol’s highest lake, Achenkirch shares the shores with the villages of Maurach and Pertisau. Skiing is at the nearby Christlum area which extends from 950 to 1800 meters and contains a wide variety of skiing for all ability levels.
There are a couple of spiraling blacks right at the top of the mountain and one down into the village, but otherwise the area is dominated by wide cruising reds and blues. The lifts give the area an hourly capacity of 9000 skiers and the ski pass offers discounts for children between 6 and 15.
Achensee provides a free bus service to the slopes and is also easily accessible from Innsbruck and Munich airports, being less than 100 kilometres from both. Being a destination equally popular in the summer as it is in the winter Achensee provides a great range of hotels for all tastes and budgets, ranging from a five-star hotel down to budget self-catering style.
